Who Dosen't Love Food Trucks?

Hello world,

As I sit down today and start my research on starting a small business in Kamloops, BC. I came across starting a small food truck business. It would be a miracle to have it be easy and quick to start the business on four wheels, but its not going to be effortless. The idea of running a food truck in this city seems like something new for the community. I have lived here for seven years and heard from other people there's been the odd hotdog food truck rolling through the streets for the night walkers. As well, there is no authentic donair restaurants in Kamloops. It's cheap, and made fresh everyday so how could people not love it!
Down in the lower mainland of Vancouver, where I grew up. There is an overwhelming amount of small donair businesses. The donair is a choice of the primary ingredient meat; chicken, beef, or lamb. Then comes the fresh veggies. These delicious but simple ingredients are stuffed into the center of a soft pita shell. Once you have chose the meat and veggies, the variety of fresh made sauces are mouth-watering. Garlicy hummos, fresh tzaziki, hot sauce, and of course sweet donair sauce. I would have to learn all I could about beginning to even re-create a comfort food like this. It's tradition runs deep in the production of such a masterpiece.
The donair originated in Halifax (and shortly afterwards in Alberta), while in Ontario the gyro was the pita wrapped version of choice. These differences being primarily due to the Lebanese population in Nova Scotia, and Greeks in Toronto. In the early 70's the donair of NS was all-beef with the sweet sauce, while the Ontario Gyro a mix of lamb and beef with the garlic sauce (tzatziki). Since then a larger middle-eastern influence has spread across the country creating several versions of each, many of which called the shawarma.
I call it a donair, that's what it is commonly known as in the lower mainland of Vancouver. The best donair is one that is stuffed not wrapped! Do not get the two confused, it is a huge difference. The idea to open up a small business in town that offered customers a chance to try something without all the extra grease and calories. It is a simple comfort food that people become obsessed with once tasted. All those fast-food chains don't begin to compare with the wonderfully full, happy feeling people have after eating a donair!
Lastly, the idea of running a food truck business in Kamloops sounds like an interesting adventure. The cost of running a food truck would be much less than the operation of a store front business. It would be a great way to introduce the product to the people and meet them one-on-one. The local hot spots at night in Kamloops seem to be limited. There is more activity in the downtown area for the young crowds, and people who are looking for a midnight snack! I believe people like having a choice to be more healthy and eat food that makes them feel good inside and out. This is an idea of mine since I moved here to start a small business. The idea seems to make perfect sense to me. I'm tired of going through withdraws from my donair obsession it isn't fair to me, or anyone else who understands my fascination with such a yummy meal! For the ones who don't know what they're missing out; maybe one day I will make the dream come true!

Introduction

Hello world,

Welcome to my blog! My name is Elizabeth Csiszar, and I like to go by Liz. The blogging world is still new to me although I have tried it before. My ambition is to finish my Human Resource Degree at Thompson River University in Kamloops, BC. This introduction to the world of becoming a blogger is a part of my curricular in my Prof. English course. It can feel like a daunting task to begin writing freely to express my opinion to other experienced, or less experienced writers. But my goal is to have fun with it and learn some new things. I am going to start my next blog post on self-employment and the logistics behind how to start working for yourself. I am fascinated in learning what the struggles are to take that first step in opening a small business. Hope you enjoy my blog!
